VS618 On display at RAF Museum Hendon. The Prentice was RAF’s first side-by-side trainer. This aircraft first flew in May 1949 and served with No. 22 Flying Training School (FTS). In 1956 it passed into civilian hands till it was purchased in 2009 by the RAF Museum. It is one of some 17 Prentice survivors worldwide. (mehr von VS618)

TG511 Crowded with an Avro York on the left, a Dakota above and Short Belfast to the rear, space is at a premium in the Cold War gallery at RAF Museum Cosford. This Hastings was built in 1948 and served with No. 47 Sqn. during the Berlin Airlift. By 1955 it was flying in the weather reconnaissance role with No. 202 Sqn. It went later to Strike Command Bombing School followed by Radar Training Flight till retired in 1977. (mehr von TG511)

430650 On display at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. This long-range photo reconnaissance Ju-88 was completed in June 1943 and delivered to Romania, an ally of Germany. In July 1943 a Romanian pilot defected to Cyprus. The aircraft was later handed over by the RAF to the USAAF for testing. A Fritz-X guided bomb lies beneath the fuselage. (mehr von 430650)

4783 On display at the JMSDF Naval Air Museum, Kanoya on an autumn day. This is the last P-2J built. Seventh Kokutai was the last of the JMSDF squadrons to fly the P-2J, and this aircraft completed the last flight on June 5, 1994. 5954 On display at the Chicago Museum of Science & Industry, this is one of two surviving Stukas in the world. The R-model or ‘Reichweite’ was identical to the B-2, but with additional fuel tanks for longer range. This Trop has a special dust filter for the engine for desert operations. Flown by 3./St.G 1 under the command of Fliegerführer Afrika, it has the unit's Hans Huckebein insignia on the cowling. (mehr von 5954)

HS986 Restored Spitfire on display at IAF Museum Palam in the markings of the Advanced Flying School (AFS) based at Ambala. The chakra worn by RIAF aircraft from 1947-50 has replaced the roundels. The IAF received Spitfires in Oct. 1944 and a number of variants were taken on charge from the RAF to equip fourteen squadrons and flying schools. After Hurricanes, the entire RIAF fighter force was equipped with Spitfires by mid-1946 before the Tempest II was inducted. (mehr von HS986)

TX-7101 On display at Gifu-Kakamigahara Air and Space Museum under the wing of the UF-XS. This Safir was modified by the Japan Defense Agency’s Technical Research and Development Institute to test high-lift devices to improve take-off and landing performance. The results of these tests helped in the development of the UF-XS and PS-1/US-1 flying boats, as well as the C-1 transport and Asuka STOL aircraft. (mehr von TX-7101)
