9056 Only surviving Sparrowhawk of eight built to serve with airships USS Akron and USS Macon, this aircraft was restored to represent the time when airships acted as flying aircraft carriers. To recover, the pilot approached the airship slightly above stall speed and used the overhead hook to attach onto a trapeze. Hence the insignia "Men on the Flying Trapeze", visible on the fuselage. Donated by Boeing in 1959, this Kaydet is painted to represent a Navy N2S-5 but is actually 42-17800. Kaydets with different engines had different designations; this PT-13D is powered by a 220 hp Lycoming R-680.
